Development trend of low smoke and halogen-free wires

A: Traditional PVC wires and wires generate smoke containing toxic gases such as hydrogen halide, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide during combustion, which not only affects the smooth progress of disaster relief work, but also causes a "second disaster" for life and property;

B: Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, the United States, Japan, and some other countries hold the strongest opposition to the application of PVC. The legislative and coordinating bodies of these countries have formulated strict laws that restrict and ultimately eliminate the industrial application of PVC;

C: According to SS-00259 regulations, SONY Company in Japan began requiring suppliers to meet comprehensive low smoke and zero halogen requirements for wire materials (except for high-temperature wires such as FEP) on May 1st, 2005. Due to the current lack of development of low smoke and zero halogen plug adhesives and connectors, the implementation time has been postponed to May 1st, 2005. Philips has been replacing all wires since January 2006, and there is currently no clear regulation in other countries.

2. Low smoke and halogen-free wire characteristics:

(1) The tensile strength is greater than that of general PVC wires: general PVC wires have a tensile strength greater than 1.05Kgf/mm2, while low smoke and halogen-free wires have a tensile strength greater than 1.2Kgf/mm2;

(2) Has good weather resistance (-30 ℃~105 ℃);

(3) Having good softness (hardness of 80-90);

(4) Has non transferability (as there is no need to add plasticizers in this product formula, there will be no transferability);

(5) No toxic black smoke will be generated during combustion (a small amount of white smoke will be generated);

(6) Has a high volume resistivity: PVC wires are generally 1012-1015 Ω/cm3, and low smoke halogen-free wires are greater than 1016 Ω/cm3;

(7) Has good high-voltage resistance characteristics: PVC wires are generally resistant to over 10KV, while low smoke and halogen-free wires can reach over 15KV;

(8) Has good elasticity and viscosity.

3. Low smoke and halogen-free wire formula additive materials:

(1) Linear PE and elastic PE are selected as the main resins, and three types of metal oxides containing crystalline water are selected as flame retardant materials: losing crystalline water at 200 ℃, 300 ℃, and above 300 ℃. Does not contain 6P (Non 6P), i.e. does not contain phthalates.

According to new EU regulations, DEHP (dihexyl phthalate), DBP (dibutyl phthalate), and BBP (phenylbutyl phthalate) will be restricted from use in PVC materials used in all children's toys, clothing, and other items; The corresponding DINP (diisoonyl phthalate), DID P (diisoodecyl phthalate), and DNOP (dioctyl phthalate) are also limited to use in children's toys and clothing, as well as all items that may be placed in the mouth; The content of the above 6 components (6P) shall not exceed 0.1%, and those exceeding 0.1% shall not be sold in the EU market.
