LS Corporation announced on the 10th in South Korea that it has successfully developed two new types of special LS cables for use in heavy equipment. This type of cable can be used in conjunction with industrial cranes in power stations and ports. This time, LS Company and Tangjin Coal Power Plant, a subsidiary of East West Electric Power in South Korea, have collaborated to complete the research and development work of this project.

It is reported that LS cable has collaborated with Tangjin Coal Power Station to develop two types of cables, one is a composite optical cable (6/10kV), and the other is a power supply cable (0.6/1kV). Both new types of cables have been put into use at Tangjin Coal Power Station. According to the purpose, composite optical cables are used for large cranes, consisting of a power supply cable and a communication cable, for monitoring the operation of equipment. Power cables provide services for small cranes and conveyor systems.

During the research and development process, both types of cables have enhanced the performance of related products, including wear resistance, stretchability, and bending resistance. Firstly, the ribbon braided sheath on the outer layer of the cable can effectively prevent twisting during use. Secondly, the smooth fireproof polybutadiene rubber coating on the cable surface has advantages such as moisture resistance, oil resistance, dissolution resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance. According to LS company, the cable can maintain its functionality in extremely harsh environments. Two new types of cables have passed extremely strict quality testing and have been applied to Tangjin Coal Power Station.

So far, only European cable manufacturers are able to manufacture this type of special cable. Therefore, LS company's development of this project can seize the opportunity to explore niche markets such as new ports, docks, power stations, etc. Moreover, the volume of container ships and fuel tanks has been increasing, and the volume of goods transported by sea is also constantly increasing.
